National Crime Victims Rights Week April 2-8, 2017: Learn More

Victim Allies Project (VAP):

Services include grief support, financial advocacy, and help navigating the Orleans and Jefferson parish criminal justice systems. We assess individual needs of each victim, then summon appropriate resources and attention to each case in coordination with the DAs office, NOPD, Department of Justice, Crimestoppers, and other local agencies.

Our primary focus is homicide, but SIV staff members are trained to address any violent crime, including domestic violence and sex crimes. All VAP services are free to victims and victim-survivors.

Peace Clinics:

Our Peace Music Clinics provide young people, ages 5-13 years old, the opportunity to learn from professional musicians. Lessons in trumpet, drums, piano, and violin are available at no cost. Student may also borrow instruments from the Music Clinics if needed.

The current Peace Music Clinics meet each Tuesday, from 5:30-7:30pm at New Hope Baptist Church, 1807 LaSalle St. in New Orleans.

The Poetry Peace Club, a gathering of young poets at the NET Charter School, is the most recent addition to our roster. All Peace Clinics explore creative expression as a counter and alternative to violence.

Community Engagement:

Our Peace Walks have carried resource information and encouragement through neighborhoods afflicted by violence.

Annual celebrations of the Night Out Against Crime, National Crime Victims Rights Week, and the SIV Strike Against Crime Week connect citizens from across the city to make a difference as allies for each other.

We engage local musicians and artists during Community Engagement programs, capturing peace and hope through creative expression.
