STRIKE AGAINST CRIME 2014

Date: Tue, Jan. 14, 2014 SilenceIsViolence promotes peace, hosts fundraiser during Strike Against Crime Week

New Orleans, Louisiana: For the sixth year running, SilenceIsViolence hosts the city-wide STRIKE AGAINST CRIME January 20th-24th. We call this Strike each year to ask residents of New Orleans to take time out from their regular routines in order to speak, act, and mobilize for peace in our city.
The theme of this year’s Strike is “Save Our Children,” in honor of the large number of children lost to violence in New Orleans during the past 12 months. We especially remember: Edward Barton (age 14), Keshawn Bell (age 16), Arabian Gayles (age 11), Aaron Granier (age 17), Ralphmon Green (age 15), Zion Harris (age 1), Lernard Hurst (age 16), Deshawn Kinard (age 7 months), Courtney Moore (age 17), Terrance Roberts (age 15), Londyn Samuels (age 1), and Antwine Seaton (age 17).
Each murder represents not only a life cut short, but waves of impact that effect family members, neighbors, friends, and the city as a whole. Join SilenceIsViolence in promoting peace and protection for our children, by participating in a week- long series of activities:
