Peace Music Clinics Resume
Tue, Sep. 24, 2013
This evening we welcome back returning students to our new and improved Peace Music Clinics, and we look forward to meeting our new participants as well!
SilenceIsViolence Peace Clinics seek to engage local youth in positive creative expressions and actions to counter the culture of gun violence in our city. The free Peace Music Clinics program, launched in early 2007, is going strong this semester under the guidance of new Music Director Virgil Tiller, of the Stooges Brass Band. Peace Music Clinics take place every TUESDAY evening from 5:30 to 7:30pm, at Andrew Wilson Charter School (3617 General Pershing Street, Broadmoor). Dinner is provided for participants beginning at 5pm in the Wilson cafeteria, and homework support is provided between music lessons.
To sign up or learn more about our youth programs, email SpeakUp@silenceisviolence.org or call the SilenceIsViolence office at (504) 948-0917.
INSTRUMENTS NEEDED FOR FALL 2013!
SilenceIsViolence relies upon the generosity of community members to ensure that instruments are available for all Peace Music Clinics participants. This semester, we are particularly in need of TRUMPETS and VIOLINS. Please email SpeakUp@silenceisviolence.org or call (504) 948-0917 to arrange an instrument donation. Or visit www.silenceisviolence.org to make a financial contribution to support youth intervention programming through SilenceIsViolence.
THANK YOU, and see you soon at the Peace Music Clinics!
SilenceIsViolence thanks the Clayton-Royer Family Fund for supporting our summer Music Clinics activities.
