November 29 update

November 29, 2007

Hi, everyone.

Good news in the NOPD Fifth District this week: After two years in trailers, the Fifth District offices are finally moving into a new station. Anyone who has witnessed the conditions many of our NOPD officers have been working in since Katrina will realize what an important milestone this move represents. Reasonable working conditions are essential to productivity in any field, and law enforcement is no exception. We hope to see this encouraging step followed up in the future with district substations in some of the more remote areas of the Fifth District.

In recognition of this accomplishment, we are replacing today's scheduled City Walk with a presence at a reception being held in the new Fifth District Station between 5 and 7pm. We invite all New Orleanians, but particularly Fifth District residents, to join at us the station to see the new facilities, meet and greet our neighborhood officers and supervisors, and enjoy some refreshments. Here are the details:

What: NOPD Fifth District Meet & Greet

When: Thursday, November 29, 5-7pm

Where: 2372 St. Claude Avenue (the new district station)

See you there-

Ken and Baty
